UGANDAN ASIANS IN BRITAIN AWARDS
35 YEARS ON

Most of the Ugandan Asians had British passports and come to United Kingdom, after the expulsion of Asians from Uganda by Idi Amin in 1972.

They had lost their homes, their businesses and all but a handful of possessions and did not know whether they would survive the West Country winter.   But survive they did, and much more than that.

The Ugandan Asians now make up one of the most successful and prosperous immigrant communities in Britain and to mark 35years on from the expulsion in 1972 by Idi Amin awards were held at Meher Hall on Saturday 9th June 2007 organised by Mr. Jiva Odedra.

The event sponsors were Elegant Wedding Services one of the leading Asian Wedding specialist in this country and by Asian Woman Magazine- supporting British Heart Research Foundation and Wishes4kids Charity - 15 Awards were handed out.
